Alison's Breast Cancer Diary Feelings after diagnosis, surgery, and chemo-therapy15 December - Going Home That lovely surgeon was much more affable on day two after the operation. He told me that I must do my arm exercises. He warned me that if I kept my arm to my side the scar tissue would heal in such a way that I would lose significant arm movement. Sold. I will do the exercises regardless of the pain. He also said that I am not 'sick '. It was time to go home. I wanted to stay longer. I liked it in the hospital - good drugs plenty of people to get anything for me - frankly it was a nice little place to have a holiday. Weeks later I read that it was normal to have four days in hospital. Home was fine. Richard was devoted to me.
