Alison's Breast Cancer Diary Feelings after diagnosis, surgery, and chemo-therapy10 December - Rationalising We have science backgrounds and we think rationally. What stupid statistics they are on "Google". How can there be a 50% survival rate? That's just too vague. How many cancers were detected? How many women had chemotherapy? How many took specific drugs after the chemotherapy? How many had surgery? We were feeling less worried by Sunday evening. Dumb statistics. A friend's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and refused to have surgery to remove it let alone medication. She believed that if it was God's wish she would accept it. That woman died within six months of diagnosis. These sorts of cancer 'non treatments' obviously have an impact on the 50% survival rate statistic.
