What is a leverage investment?

A leverage investment is where you invest and get a higher exposure to the market.  This can be by either using the equity in your home, your income or borrowings to increase your investment exposure.

Rental Properties
This is the classic investment and all too commonly used by New Zealanders.  Bricks and mortar investment is easily understood by the average investor.  More information can be found at the link to rental property.  Over the last 15 years, property has returned on average 2% real rate of return, that is net of inflation.

There are other forms of leverage investments with potentially higher returns, such as Futures & Hedge Funds.
